出生前BACs ビーズ試験（BACs-on-Beads technology）を利用して、初めてのウィリアムズ症候群の出生前確定診断が行われた。この結果を受けて、超音波診断でウィリアムズ症候群特有の兆候の存在が確認された。この症例報告は、新たな遺伝子テクノロジーによって出生前に情報を得ることができ、さらに追加的な情報を得る手助けになるという事実を強調している。
