全般性不安障害を含むは併存型不安障害（Co-morbid anxiety disorders）はウィリアムズ症候群患者において発生頻度が高い。しかし、ウィリアムズ症候群における不安症に関する報告のなかで薬理学的治療について記載しているものは極限られた数しかない。ここに、我々は3人のウィリアムズ症候群の青年/若い成人3人の病歴と、併存型全般性不安障害に対するブスピロンによる治療経過をレビューする。ブスピロンによる治療は高い忍容性を示し、全症例で持続的な奏効を示した。ウィリアムズ症候群で共通的にみられる医学的症状のなかで全般性不安障害の薬物治療が安全で適切であることは特筆される。ブスピロンの一般的な良性の副作用は、ウィリアムズ症候群患者の全般性不安障害に対してその薬を使用する際の重要な利点である。
